Become a volunteer and together we can build a healthier future

4th June 2019

Vol Wk1.JPGTogether a Healthier Future, the Integrated Care Partnership for Pennine Lancashire, is celebrating Volunteers Week and encouraging people to give volunteering a try.

Volunteers Week takes place from 1-7 June each year and is an opportunity to celebrate and thank volunteers.

Graham Burgess, Chair of Together a Healthier Future, said:

“We really want to take this opportunity to celebrate all the hard work our volunteers do across Pennine Lancashire.

“We recognise that volunteers are a vital part of communities and would like to thank them for their contributions.  Not only does volunteering strengthen community spirit, it also helps improve health and wellbeing.

“Volunteering is very rewarding.  It can help reduce loneliness, increase social interaction and confidence, and gives people a sense of purpose.

“I recommend everyone gives it a try!”

In Pennine Lancashire there are an estimated 114,000 formal volunteers and thousands of informal volunteers who support their communities.

As part of the Pennine Lancashire Volunteer Project which launched in 2018, Together a Healthier Future and partner organisations are working together to maximise opportunities for volunteers and organisations.
